From its performance, one could quickly notice its similarity to the Cherry MX Blue switches, so if you’re a fan of that, you’ll like the approach SteelSeries has done with this model. Inside the keyboard, you may find what they call the MX stems, which is a convenient feature as you can customize the keycaps without any restrictions. SteelSeries’ Apex 5 model radiates a premium aura because of its Hybrid Blue Mechanical Switches. Lastly, it’s essential to note that these cables that come with the products aren’t detachable, which is a bummer for people looking for portability. The latency for the Apex 7 is more than impressive, scoring an average of 6.8 ms. There’s also cable management available, and it is a blessing to many users who mostly find themselves having to fold some cables that could be a distraction when gaming. No wireless functionality is available, and perhaps this is the best choice to avoid any unnecessary price increase. The Apex 7 model is also a wired mechanical keyboard with a cable length of 6.2 ft. We can, however, see some downside to this product, mainly because of how slow it could be, with a latency of 24.4 ms. The best thing about the Apex product line is how much SteelSeries has cared for cable management. It is a wireless gaming keyboard that has a 5.24 ft. Apex 5 is a refreshing take on the premium branding that SteelSeries is aiming for.
